2 weeks from Maine to MI, and many places in-between

This trip will have us visiting places along the way from Maine to Macinac Island and many places along the route.

Well it’s been what, 6, 7, 8 days since we left, and I’m finally finding time to start posting. Well really, I just found the codes to do edit live, so here goes.

Our original first stop was going to be Niagara Falls (the Canadian side), but this was a 9+ hours drive and a bit more then my wife would be up to at one time, so we decided we’d leave mid-day Saturday instead of Sunday and we’d drive 4-5 hours (Keene, NH area), then head to Niagara Falls the next day. This proved  to be the right move.

That first night we stayed at the Best Western Plus in Keene, NH. They had an Irish pub (Waxy’s)  on site which worked out fine, as my wife wasn’t up to doing any more driving once we stopped for the night. The meal at the Irish pub, was ok, not great, but ok.

Now I should point out, we try very hard to not eat at any fast food or franchise restaurants when we travel, (TRY) and the next 2 weeks were going to be a good test as to whether or not we could do this. turns out that Waxys has several locations … is that a franchise???

Albeit a bit loud for our liking (after a long days drive), we would recommend you give them a try.  I had Irish style hot wings? And my wife had Irish tater tots? The question marks are to note, they called them Irish Style, but we couldn’t tell the difference.

So, let see if I can fill in some spots.

Before we got to Niagara Falls, we stopped at an Italian Restaurant near Buffalo, which was pretty cool. A bit heavy on the Italian connections to movie stars and such, but still cool. The food was great as was the service. I can’t remember where we were or the name of the place, which is to bad because I would say to stop by if you are near, it would be well worth it. Found it:)

6 locations, franchise or not? And we didn’t know this until I was writing this. We hadn’t pass any along the way

Utica: Delmonico’s Italian Steakhouse

After the meal we headed on towards our hotel for the night. This was a nice surprise, as the hotel was right downtown with the falls viewable out our bedroom window (like so many). We walked around for a few hours and enjoyed the area. We were both surprised by the area, as it was a live and hoping and gear towards families and spending money.

The falls are lit-up  at night and very pretty. There is plenty to do here, but a lot of it is day time attractions.

Oh, did I mention I’m finishing this up several months later, yeah my back went out big time, and getting back, getting back to work, and a bunch of other things since then, have gotten in the way.
